Melissa Travis grew up in Ohio and thinks the Midwest is a great place
to be from. She enjoys knitting and watching her 401k deflate. She
is currently ABD in sociology and is writing her dissertation on
domestic discipline and adult sexual spanking. When her parents ask
her what she studies she replies, “relationships.” She also does
research on marriage and monogamy as well as health, illness and
death. She also worked as a librarian for a few years because she
wanted to see if Buffy was real and because librarians are hot
(meow!). Her professional goals are to graduate and be a professor
and write books and teach. For now she’s happy with paying rent and
affording food for herself and her two cats and her doggie. She
enjoys both the high and low brow events in life, including attending
the opera, reading smutty vampire and alternative history novels,
watching B monster movies and all things sci-fi. She loves dressing
up for DragonCon, board games, and girl geekery. She began
improvising with JackPie by taking a few workshops with Chris Pierce
and Jim Karwisch. Later, she began her classwork in earnest and is
enjoying engaging in stage foibles with her fellow teammates.
